Why Drains Block So Often in Table View
Table View sees its share of blocked drains, largely down to fine coastal sand working into stormwater and sewer connections, much like neighbouring Table View. Here’s what we see most often.
Sand & Silt Ingress
Fine coastal sand works into stormwater and sewer connections near Blaauwberg Road and the Table View beachfront and settles at low points until the pipe chokes.
High Water Table
Groundwater levels near Blaauwberg Road and the Table View beachfront can stay elevated after heavy Cape Town winters, so soakaways and outlets in Table View drain slower and clog faster.
Root Intrusion
Established gardens send roots looking for moisture, and ageing pipe joints are an easy target.
Shared Complex Lines
Many Table View properties sit in estates and complexes, where one blocked shared line can affect several units at once.
Signs You Have a Blocked Drain
Most blockages give a warning before they turn into a mess on the floor or in the garden. If you’re noticing any of the following at your Table View property, it’s worth calling us before it becomes an after-hours emergency.
- Gurgling sounds from sinks, showers or toilets
- Water draining slowly, or not at all
- Bad odours near drains, gullies or manholes
- Water pooling in the garden or driveway after rain
- An outside gully or manhole overflowing
